User guide

Installation on PrestaShop

Follow these steps to install and activate the module on your store.

Download the ZIP file

Click the "Download" button above. You get the file sumuppayment-v1.0.50.zip. Do not unzip the file.

Access the back-office

Log in to the administration of your PrestaShop store. Go to Modules → Module Manager.

Upload the module

Click "Upload a module" (top right). Drag and drop the .zip file or select it.

Install and configure

PrestaShop detects the "SumUp Payment" module. Click "Install" then "Configure" to enter your SumUp API key.

Get your SumUp API keys

Generate an API key from your SumUp account to connect the module to your account.

Create a SumUp account

If you don't have one yet, create a merchant account on sumup.com.

Access the API keys page

Go to the API keys management page:

Generate a new API key

Click "Create an API key". Select the scopes:

  • payments — Required to create checkouts
  • transactions.history — To verify transactions
  • user.profile_readonly — For the connection test
Warning: The payments scope must sometimes be enabled manually by SumUp support.

Copy and enter into PrestaShop

Copy the key immediately (it will no longer be visible afterwards). Go back to the module configuration and enter the SumUp API key and the Merchant Code.

Frequently asked questions

Which PrestaShop versions is the module compatible with?

The module is compatible from PrestaShop 1.7.6.0 up to the latest version 9, including the entire 8.x branch.

Do I need a business SumUp account?

Yes. You must have a verified SumUp merchant account. Creating one is free and verification takes 1 to 2 business days.

Does card data pass through my server?

No. Card data is processed directly by SumUp, whether in Hosted Checkout or Card Widget mode.

I get an "insufficient scopes" error, what should I do?

The payments scope must be enabled on your API key. If the problem persists, contact SumUp support.

How do I go live?

Change the mode from "Sandbox" to "Live" in the module configuration. Make a test payment for a small amount (1 EUR) then refund it.

Does the module support multistore?

Yes. Each store can have its own independent SumUp configuration.

In which languages is the module available?

The module is translated into 5 languages: French, English, Spanish, Italian and German. All front-office and back-office translations are pre-filled.
